"Louie" ?!?!?
rocky Marciano wasn't an artist. He fought ugly until he ended it. Rocky learned from Walcott and ended the second fight quickly.
Thanks!
How dare you say Foreman broke Walcott's record! Walcott was champ when the best man was Heavyweight Champion of the world. When Foreman got the title a second time he lost to 2 of the Alphabet soup champs before finding one he could beat.
the GOAT can only ever be an opinion, not a fact. For me the GOAT to watch in action was Ali. Unique with his speed , skill and grace. He may or may not have been able to beat the other great heavyweights in their prime . We'll never know!
Walcott, Charles, Moore and the faded Louis were in the worst era of heavyweight boxing, aged and past it. That period is the only reason Marciano was successful; short and with an arm span shorter than Barry McGuigan, I kid you not, he couldn't have hacked it a few years later.
Walcott, the idiot who completely fucked up Ali – Liston 2.
Liston goes down from a perfect, short right. No phantom punch, viewed frame by frame you can see the force travel through Sonny
and making his leg jerk.
Ali stands over Liston and refuses to go to a neutral corner; a downed boxer does not have to rise if his opponent hasn't obeyed the ref. Walcott should have warned Ali that he could be disqualified, but Nat Fleischer, a twerp who thought his crap magazine, Ring, was boxing's bible, and he the sport's kingpin, screamed from ringside that Sonny was out, even though no count had been started by the time Ali was neutral. At the same time Liston had risen and the two were facing each other, Walcott, hearing Fleischer scream, stepped in and stopped the fight.
Fleischer had no jurisdiction and should have been taken to task for his interference; the timekeeper should have shut Fleischer up and told Walcott to let the bout continue, but he couldn't even get the stoppage time correct, all history books have the end as exactly 60 seconds, which is ridiculous.
Walcott wasn't allowed to ref again and should have been hauled over the coals.
Rocky Marciano ended Walcott's career.
And he also was in the ring with Ali and Liston, as the ref…albeit a somewhat mystified ref.
